Dermal Filler Treatments

Dermal Filler Treatments

Dermal fillers are a versatile treatment, which provide a naturally subtle enhancement to replenish lost volume in addition to adding shape and contouring to different facial areas. This product will also reduce and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and result in a smoother and more youthful appearance.

These fillers contain Hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a polysaccharide (large sugar molecule) that is found naturally in the body. HA can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water and is essential in keeping the skin moisturised. The highest concentration of HA is found in the epidermal layer of the skin and generates the smooth elastic properties of young skin. Through the natural ageing process, the body’s ability to produce HA starts to decrease, which in turn causes fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.

Nose to Mouth Lines (Nasolabial Folds)

Nose to mouth Lines (‘Nasolabial Folds’)

Nasolabial folds are the lines that extend from the edge of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth on either side of the mouth and can be more noticeable when you smile. Although these lines are part of your natural facial structure, the folds will become deeper and start to take on a ‘depressed’ appearance due to a number of factors including the natural ageing process, loss of collagen and sun exposure.

This product can be placed in the upper cheek area to ‘lift’ the cheek and hence the nasolabial folds become less noticeable.

Corners of the mouth (‘Marionette Lines’)

Marionette lines form from the corner of the mouth vertically down towards the sides of the chin due to a number of factors. A combination of sun exposure, genetics, weight loss and the ageing process heightens the downwards movement of the fat and the loss of collagen in the skin resulting in the appearance of these lines and a ‘sad’ expression. Over time, these lines can progress into the formation of jowls.

This treatment will provide lift and volume to the area under these wrinkles resulting in a softer and smoother appearance and re-establishing a youthful appearance to the surface of the skin.

Lip Enhancement (Shaping & Volumising)

Lip Enhancement (Shaping & Volumising)

Over the last few years, non-surgical lip enhancement has become increasingly popular as patients seek to improve the natural size and shape of their lips. As the ageing process begins, the lips naturally lose volume and reduce in size, become less defined and the mouth can start to droop at the corners. 50% of our lip volume is lost by the age of 50.

The correct lip filler product can create some subtle enhancements, definition and enhance a pout by refining the hydration system that results in symmetry, natural fullness and well-defined lips.

Lip fillers can be used to :

  • Define the vermillon border (the ‘cupid’s bow’)
  • Create fuller looking lips with a defined shape
  • Generate balance between the upper and lower lips
  • Correct the droopy corners of the mouth by providing a lift
  • Regain youthful plumpness in the lips

Your expectations and ideas will be addressed during your initial consultation. Immediate dramatic results can be observed, and a review will be conducted after 2 weeks.

Cheek Shaping & Contouring

Cheek fillers have become an increasingly popular treatment for those seeking to augment their face shape or contour their features to create a ‘V’ shaped look.

During the ageing process, the cheeks start to lose their natural volume, which in turn causes them to become flat and start to sag. As fat pads begin to redistribute, facial bones also lose volume and skin loses its elasticity, which results in a sunken droopy face with hollowing. We often end up with more skin that our face can support.

This product can be placed directly above the cheek bones and moulded to define natural cheek bone structure, correct volume loss, add contour and lift the face, including softening the nasolabial folds and hence creating a more youthful appearance.

Jawline & Chin (Contouring & Enhancement)

Jawline and chin filler are frequently used together to enhance and balance the profile of the face. Adding filler to the jawline gives the lower third of the face definition, shape, and a smoother contour. Jawline filler is also effective at concealing jowls and creating the illusion of a slimmer face, and is becoming increasingly popular among men seeking a more’masculine’ appearance. Chin filler can be used to lengthen the face and project the chin outwards, resulting in a more pleasing side profile. With age, volume loss in the chin is common, and administering filler in this area can smooth out deficiencies to create a more refreshed appearance.

Hand Fillers

Hand Fillers

Following the trend in recent years for cosmetic facial procedures, patients are now requesting hand rejuvenation treatments to improve the appearance of ageing hands (which can often indicate one’s true age). Atrophy of the subcutaneous tissue and a loss of dermal elasticity, along with veins, tendons and bony structures becoming apparent and all factors that lead to the intrinsic ageing of the hands.

The volume of soft tissue is restored using small amounts of dermal filler at multiple points injected into the dermal layer.

Results & Recovery Time

Dermal fillers can last between 6-18 months depending on the treatment and the targeted area. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area before treatment begins and the dermal fillers also contain a pre-mixed local anaesthetic, which will prevent any discomfort during the procedure. Recovery time following this treatment is minimal and a relatively swift return to daily activities is possible. However, temporary side effects include minor swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness and can take up to 2 days to resolve in some cases.
